3fifteen

After my studio day with My Video Express, I was now in the know of how they ran the filming. I was also told that I would be a camera operator so had the camera dropped off at my house to learn how to use. I attended a pre-production meeting with a client about 10 videos he wanted making for his company 3fifteen, these were a mix of promotional and instructional videos. We went through the scripts and decided what imagry would be used for each part of the video. There was going to be animations used throughout so we had to then send this off to the animator.
On the day of filming, I was the lead camera operator and set up the camera, lights and greenscreen. The presenter and client arrived and then filming was underway. It all went smoothly. I then edited the videos using cromakey on the backgrounds and had guidance from My Video Express because it was a brand new style of editing for me. These videos then went through client changes before approval.

Get on your bike

I worked with Cancer Research UK as their official photographer for the fundraising event in Milton Keynes, Get on your bike. This is where members of the public pay a small joining fee and also get sponsers to complete a group bike ride. There such a range of ages and people there taking part in this which was good to see. It was Carol the organisers last year because she had managed to raise £100,000 for Cancer Research UK. An amazing amount! As the photographer, it was my job to capture the atmosphere of the event. It is a family event and many people are excited to be there taking part. The mayor of Milton Keynes was there showing support and there were activities such as a bouncy castle and facepainting there to raise further money. Everyone did very well on the bike ride and it was a really good atmosphere. It was uncertain if the event would carry on with Carol no longer leading it, but thankfully some riders from the day stepped up and are now heading the event.

I was recently contacted by a media company called My Video Express. I was asked if I was interested in doing editing work with them. I met up with the owner and discussed his needs and what role I would have in the upcoming projects. They mainly work with greenscreens and presenters to make corporate videos for companies. I was told about a few upcoming projects they would like me to work on and about a studio day they wanted me to attend to see how their filming process works.

Hairdressers

Recently I received an email from the media company, Local Stars, about my application to join their team of videographers giving me more information on it is they would require from me. After reading up on them and on all the infomation they sent me, I told them I was still interested and was accepted onto their team of videographers. I was send a list of different industries to begin filming stock footage for them. The first category I chose was hairdressers and soon had access to The Beehive Salon in Milton Keynes to begin filming. Check them out - https://www.facebook.com/TheBeehiveMK

I arrived and began to film shots which did not show much of the invidiual salon so it could be used by other hairdressers wishing to promote themselves through Local Stars. This involved many close ups of hair being snipped and things like that! Whilst doing this, I realised I seem to have a habit of 'overshooting.' By this, I mean I was filming FAR too much footage than what I actually needed. The final clip only needed to be 25 seconds so I started only filming what I thought I would need, plus a bit extra, you know, just in case!

The footage turned out to be just the right amount and made for an easy edit. I recieved the music off dropbox and it is now ready to be sent.

Tasha and Chris Wedding

I filmed Tasha and Chris tie the knot the other day. I was not allowed in the actual ceremony, they were a bit strict of having videographers or photographers in the registry office. It was one of the hottest days of the year so far so the weather was beautiful for cinemetography, the sun makes everything look pretty and the colours were beautiful. The dress was amazing and there was a lovely green location to get a few shots of the happy couple and their son.

At the reception, I took a few more shots when they arrived in the wedding car and procedded into the reception. The couples son was very happy running round with the other children, all holding balloons so it was enjoyable filming them. It was still very hot so lots of drinks were going around for the kids and the adults. The speeches were slightly delayed but it was an enjoyable experience. The first dance soon came around and a few tears appeared.

Concrete RoseĀ

My friend is in a band called Concrete Rose and they were asked to perform at Trafalgar Square for London Gay Pride 2013. They wanted a backstage video so I went along to film them. When we arrived we were given backstage passes and I followed the band into the backstage area where they started to rehearse. I wanted the video to be kind of 'fly on the wall' style to show what goes on backstage, but then I thought it would be good to have some interaction with the camera also, therefore I was not sure what style to go for so thought I would film enough to do both and see what one I think works best in the edit. I filmed them rehersing, talking, eating, getting their make up done and just generally preparing! I then went out to in front of the stage with all the photographers and plonked my tripod and camera in a good position for the performance. It was slightly delayed so I took some shots of the crowd and lights etc for pick up shots. Concrete Rose then came and performed three songs. It was a very fun day and they looked very good on my camera. A few screen shots are below along with the final video.
